    Waxing and its dangers

Waxing is not something you would immediately think of when someone mentions beauty treatments where something could go wrong but ALL beauty treatments have SOMETHING that could go wrong and we are going to outline what we think the dangers are and how best to look out for them and deal with them if something was to happen.

I think it is best to tell those people out there that have never had any waxing done (mostly you men out there that are considering it), exactly what you are to expect. The waxing process is fairly straight forward but one thing to mention straight away is that it can be painful, it can be very painful but like they say ‘no pain no gain’. A wax solution is spread over the area that is going to be waxed and then a sheet of waxing paper is applied to the area which then sticks to it. For the best results and for little pain a skilled technician will only add a LITTLE coating of wax so there is not a lot of be pulled off. After the wax has dried and the paper is securely in place the wax technician will pull the paper quickly in a downward motion and all the hair that was on the area where the wax was applied should not be there anymore, this process is continued across the entire area you are trying to wax. That is really all there is to no when it comes to waxing but it should be known, the dangers when it comes to how much pain will ne inflicted comes down to how much hair there is on a particular area (men will have considerably more than a female most of the time), how much wax is applied, how quick the technician is at pulling the paper off and the overall skill of the technician doing the waxing.

    So what can go wrong?

There are not many things that can go wrong with waxing but its best to make you aware of the dangers first so as you are not in any uncertain terms as to ‘what’ a reaction is.

The first thing that WILL happen is the area that is waxed will be fairly to very red after the treatment. I am sure you will have had bad shaving days where the area shaved was sensitive and inflamed after the shaving was done, this is the exact some thing. Your skin may not be used to such rough treatment and will be a bit raw afterwards but it’s nothing to worry about, it will go. If you are worried about this because of people seeing it I don’t foresee this to be too much of a problem as the majority of areas you will want waxed will be areas that are usually covered up unless its your eyebrows/chin/moustache and all these areas as they are so small will heal allot quicker than a big area that has been waxed.

You may get in growing hairs after the hair that was previously waxed starts to grow back, this is normal and the next appointment with the waxing technician will remove this, its nothing to worry about.

In some VERY RARE cases scarring has been known to happen but this is very rare. If you have not had a waxing treatment done before always consult with the technician beforehand and they will be able to tell you whether you are likely to be at rise of any of the above.

Thanks for this and if you want to see more about waxing then go to our waxing videos page.

Alternatively you can contact us and we will go through the risks with you.
